March 20: Bakersfield Wine Society Winemaker dinner to feature Bell Hill Vineyards, smoked pheasant, Kurobuta pork and more
A new winery with Bakersfield roots will be the featured winery at the next Bakersfield Wine Society winemaker dinner on Saturday, March 20, beginning at 6:30 p.m., in the Petroleum Club. The Club’s Executive Chef Robert Alimirzaie has come up with a superb menu to complement the wines, including Beans and Lentil Medley with Smoked Pheasant Sausage, Cote de Porc: Snake River Farm prime rib of Kurobuta pork (the Kobe beef of pork) served over seasonal vegetable accompanied by potato pave and wild berry-cab reduction, Fromage Espagnol served with country crouton and quince paste, and Chocolate and Berry Mille Feuille. $75 pp For tickets, contact Mike Stepanovich at WineCountryGourmet@charter.net.

April 16-18: Earth Day Food & Wine Festival
A weekend celebration of sustainably produced, award-winning food and wine grown on California’s scenic Central Coast. Location is Santa Margarita, about 15 miles south of Paso Robles. The main event on Saturday, April 17, features the toe-tappin’, fiddle-playin’ music of the four-piece band Julie & the Bad Dogs. Barrel tastings, cooking demonstrations, live music, and vineyard tours will take place throughout the weekend. Proceeds support research, education, and farmworker outreach. Tickets $75-100. April 29-May 1: Hospice du Rhône
Each year, Hospice du Rhône produces an exceptional three-day wine event, in Paso Robles that is globally regarded as the single-most essential and enjoyable gathering of international Rhône wine producers and enthusiasts.
